With it's reflective qualities, large volumes of water visually creates a special feeling, whether it’s the sea, lake or in central Stockholm. The surfaces of both the water and the sky are constantly changing presenting the observer with a variety of effects.

Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, surrounded by water, it was once described by the famous Swedish novelist Selma Lagerlöf as "the city that floats on water." The city stretches across fourteen islands where Lake Mälaren flows into the Baltic Sea.

With this project my main interest is the water and skies, shot in weather to create a moodier atmosphere. My aim was not to take pretty photos of Stockholm but to create simple images that I hoped will make you think and feel something !

The city’s architecture is only shown as secondary elements in the images, relatively small and sometimes non-detailed. Open areas of water display a mood of solitude, coldness and great beauty. The choice of locations, weather, time of the day and camera settings have helped to enhance these emotions.

The final prints have only had minor adjustments to achieve the desired effect, these monochromatic black and white images have been printed on Hahnemhle Fine Art paper. Please CONTACT to purchase.

Exhibit & Display : 100x70cm frames & prints recommended.
